Intro
Jiuzhaigou is a national parc in northern Sichuan, China. Jiuzhaigou (literally “Nine Settlement Valley”) takes its name from the nine Tibetan settlements along its length. It was discovered quite recently, in 1975, by a chinese forestry scientist who then immediately urged local authorities to protect the area. Five years later, the Jiuzhaigou nature reserve was established and in 1984 the site opened to tourism. Today it is classified as AAAAA scenic area by the China National Tourism Administration.
